Pigmentary disorders of the skin during pregnancy (S. Vaughan Jones).

melasma:

  • types
  1. centrofacial
  2. malar
  3. mandbular
  • histology
  1. epidermal (72% of cases)
  2. dermal (13%)
  3. Mixed in 5%
  • occurs in 50-70% of pregnant women
  • Hyperpigmentations: Mucosa (Vulval Melanosis), Areola, Axilla
  • Linea Nigra
  • Pigmentary Demarcation Lines (Voigt or Futcher’s lines)
  • Darkening of Moles:
  1. there is a higher dermal proliferation of dermal melanocytes.
  2. utlity of dermoscopy
